A small scope can sometimes be a huge disadvantage, because the information that you need to solve a problem may be excluded from a narrow scope of attention, or the unpleasant consequences of a possible solution may be ignored.
This can be particularly troublesome if ignoring a particular aspect of scope becomes long-standing or permanent. Often people learn to habitually ignore their feelings, the view of others, or long term consequences, etc. and this skews their views and decisions. It is easy to slide into, This is the only thing that matters, or That doesnt matter. Tunnel vision is just concentration at the wrong time or place, and then you need to go to a larger, or different scope.
